A native New Yorker. I came here from Louisville. Ky. I'm a graduate of the University of Arizona and had a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard in 1988. I have written 233 stories containing the word 'dog' in the past 17 years. On Monday. September 19th a Jury was selected in the Case of Tammy Grimes and the trial has been set for December 12th. 13th and 14th according to the Court Administration's Office at Blair County Courthouse. The judge issued a Gag Order on Grimes and everyone involved in the case however a call to the court house revealed that the jury has been selected and the above dates have been set for the trial. It is unlikely that Grimes' evidence including a video of the dog's suffering and the veterinarian's report will be deemed admissible. In other news on this same day. Dogs Deserve Better has signed a Private Criminal Complaint against the Arnolds. These dog owners "allegedly" left their dog "Jake" renamed "Doogie'' lying on the ground without being able to stand for days before Grimes stepped in on September 11. 2006 and took Doogie to the vet and refused to return him. Grimes was subsequently arrested for theft of the dog from the Arnold's property. Thank you so much for reporting on this case. The gray misunderstood world where "property rights" and "animal welfare" intersect is going to be a hot area of debate in coming years. I think as more people realize that an animal - while it may not have "rights" like those we attribute to humans - cannot be considered mere property in the same way that a car or a piece of furniture is "property." Tammy's case might be considered "small town" and insignificant but it is a harbinger of things to come. I wish more people would cover the trends and issues afoot here thanks!

The Surry County grand jury brought two felony charges against the four men: one count of unlawfully torturing and killing dogs and one of promoting dogfights. Each could prove in a five-year prison term.

Much of what's on the table - and most of what's in the garbage - could cause them problems to read some sensible tips for keeping everyone happy and healthy on Thanksgiving. Now getting to the heart of the holiday: the "thanks'' part. I've got a lot to be grateful for not the least of which are my wonderful and entertaining dogs and stepdogs: Gracie. Shadow. Moose. Harley and Cowboy. I can't imagine life without their antics and inquisitive looks their furry and reassuring presence on my bed their unqualified tail-wagging affection and enthusiasm when I come home from work. I'm sure everyone reading this knows exactly what I mean and feels equally thankful for their own critters. apply the pass. If you have to work may it be an easy day.

I was thinking about this year's releases reading some and catching up on some albums I might have missed or not explored enough. One of my favorite's was San from japan's DJ Klock finally released in America just before his death. I was looking for something more from him or the assort Cacoy he was a part of. San was released on who undergo a regular page and forward-thinking as well as artist-friendly terms and I found this sampler: . but that's a small selection of the mp3s they have available on their place (which definitely makes exploring it more worthwhile) just look around - on many album info pages you'll sight mp3s too. It's turning out to be a tougher year than usual for arachnophobes. If you're noticing more spiders in and around your home this year you're not alone. Al Kodet owner of ABC Bees. Wasps & Spiders in Clay Township has seen an increase in complaints about eight-legged visitors. The majority of Kodet's customers are regulars who have their house cleared regularly. But among first-time customers calls about spiders are up 15% to 20% this year he said. Kodet said any animal population ordain change magnitude when there is a combination of favorable conditions from temperature to moisture to food sources. "The more favorable the conditions the greater the numbers," he said. "The right conditions will allow anything on our planet to overpopulate. ... It is spiders and bees this year." Experts said spiders are more likely to sight their way into homes closer to favorable habitats including lakes and rivers. Kodet offers some advice. go one: Don't dread. Of the 500 species found in Michigan the majority are harmless and won't bite unless provoked. "Spiders are beneficial insects out in the environment where they belong but they don't belong inside your domiciliate staining the windows or the side of the home," Kodet said. He said spider droppings are acidic and can dye or damage siding. Bernadette Wilkens of St. Clair said she no longer gets spots on her siding since she started having it sprayed about six years ago. More importantly she doesn't have to go through webs between her garage and front door when she gets home from work. "You go through a spider web and it's creepy," she said. "I don't undergo that problem anymore." As for spiders she finds inside she takes compassionate of them with a clean cleaner.
